As an Information Architect
I use principles of information design, interaction design, and user interface design to organize websites and ensure they provide users with the utility and ease of use they expect. I design site structures, information within pages, navigation, and other interaction design elements. The ability to think abstractly, creatively, and apply good design principles is critical.
As a Usability Evaluator
I am responsible for assessing the usability and accessibility of websites through testing and inspection. I choose the appropriate techniques depending on the projects' phases, risks, and other factors. Usability testing is done empirically with users from target groups. Heuristic evaluations are performed without user input, based on universal usability criteria and those defined for the project at hand.
As a Web Designer and Developer
I am able to merge visual design with back-end development to create rich, interactive experiences that provide a balanced mix of form and function. Thinking before designing is key, and I make sure that the site is designed and implemented with the user in mind. I design to enhance the brand—not to interfere in communication. Simple design and compliance to standards are my ultimate goals.
I served as co-founder and organizer of the St. Louis Group for Information Architecture, organizing monthly meetings for local professionals dedicated to the advancement of Information Architecture in the St. Louis region. This must have given me delusions of grandure.
I hold a B.A. in Media Communications with honors from Webster University.
When I'm not working
I enjoy the company of friends, exploring new flavors in the kitchen and losing myself in the story of a movie. With a flair for adventure and a cross-cultural upbringing, it is no surprise that you may find me jumping out of an airplane or crossing the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. If you would like to know more about me you may be able to find out what you need in my unauthorized partial biography.
I currently live and dream in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
